"Should we hire the man and not his history?"
(If that's the case Ian Huntley had one helluva C.V!)
I was clearing the desk of my thought processes and I watched Question Time and the issue about telling the courtroom before hand about ''previous' in order to 'speed up due process'. Presently, even if offenders are caught there are many provisions for convicted felons to 'enjoy' in order to escape jail in our already overcrowded prisons. Probation. Fines. Bail, remand, parole, tagging. Hung juries, even.
One frustrated policeman in the audience said that the real problem was that when asked about examining evidence in court the jury did not 'know' the villain like he and his colleagues did, and thus the person in the dock who mugged an old lady yesterday, looks very different today with a suit and a new haircut!! The copper thought that it would save the taxpayer and 'the force' millions, if a person's previous was taken into consideration. I believe (in my own brash and controversial way) by doing this it is not, as one of the unusually smug 'panel' suggested, ignoring the basic principle of law that 'a man is innocent until etc' and that we will be sacrificing something very 'precious' by allowing prejudice to creep into the courtroom and sway the jury.
Would such a drastic move be the beginning of anarchy and extremism? O J Simpson cost the justice system half a billion dollars and he is as guilty as hell! (isn't he?)
I believe a jury is outmoded and dangerous. I experienced the most ridiculous objections to convicting an offender when I served as a juror. Two old biddies thought it was wrong that the 'young man' should go to prisoner for spraying tear gas into the faces of the public as his duty as a bouncer at Chicago's because in their words 'he still has his whole life ahead of him". I must tell you after sharing a room with these muppets day in day out, you soon fear for the British law system!!
If we take out a loan then we have a credit scoring system. They base your potential of borrowing money on your past record and it is assessed by computer.
If you want to rent a car you will not judged about what a careful driver you say you are, but by how many points on your licence.
Even when you get married the crowd is asked 'if there is any just impediment...etc'
I think that all decisions should be assimilated on a fully loaded software program that takes into account every facet of the evidence and related criteria and then it filters down through a scoring system.
The human factor is unreliable but does have its place. That is with an eminent panel of Judges selected to pass sentence. You cannot argue with a machine. Do we argue with speedtraps? Do we argue with weighing scales? Do we try to reason with our cholesterol count or blood sugar monitor when we get a reading? Does the x-ray lie? Does the lie detector lie?
A jury has no idea of the fine balance in the law and the trusted 'twelve' neither have the qualifications to assess the law or to have a decision made on the basis of their obvious their lack of experience. It is too weighty a responsibility for the 'irresponsible', they are simply ill-equipped for such matters. As long as all the facts and evidence is fed into a computer then we the could save billions, and it could be depended on for the facts, and the facts only. The Judges can then detail any mitigation or take into account circumstantial evidence, Crime of passion etc.
Human justice as it is, is far too antiquated and frail.
Moving on.
This is a prime example of keeping the menials down with their faces in the dirt. British justice is designed to protect the wealthy classes. That is why we have different courts for different offences. Here is an example of how the wealthy keep wealthy by distracting us away from what is really going on. Class A drugs are banned in this country only to exacerbate our abuse problem. The courts fine dealers who go out and 'deal' to pay for the fines and their habit. If heroin were on prescription it would stop drug related crime. Drug related crime happens because lets call it... "the one percenters" or the financially free, can justify and manipulate governmental power and position. Crime is motivated by oppression, suppression and depression. The Government is responsible but as yet not punished for this. The state machine initiates low pay or 'minimum pay' to ensure that the other 99% are kept in debt. Their prosperity depends on the wage slave.
The wage slave principle.
Many people are trapped by their belief in the propaganda by the State machine that seeks to keep citizens quiet and obedient. This propaganda attempts, with great success, to instil the idea that if you are a good company employee and pay your taxes then the state will look after you from the cradle to the grave it will protect you from criminals (or promise too, but this is all lies, they need criminals to use your fear to trust them) educate your children, support you when you are unemployed and maintain your standard of living when you retire(but holes are already appearing in the state pension philosophy). We are drilled into dependence on the state for our every need.
Sadly, this is all deception. The state maintains criminals and the supply of drugs to de-stabilise the citizenry and it avoids educating the common citizens about what really is going on. School Curriculum is devised to obscure the truth and disable our kids from important knowledge that will serve a better future for them. They will train them in three quarters of garrulous and obsolete and meaningless information that they will never use in the rest of their careers or lives. They farm children and suppress their real talents and opportunities.
Educated or knowledgeable citizens are harder to control. The State depresses welfare payments to a level where a person is desperate to work for the minimum wage and the pension system is undermined and controlled so that those dependent on state handouts have no voice. Those defrauded of their lifelong contributions have no redress. What is scary is the likes of me and millions of others who pay their weekly subscription in the vain hope that we will be better looked after when we eventually retire! All around us we see examples of retired folk that have been ripped off by pension schemes. Robert Maxwell is just the thin end of the wedge. Just one person can destroy the lives of thousands upon thousands of trusting people in one foul swoop. It is too late for them. The State has had their best years and do not care what happens to them now.
If we want to be a 'one-percenter' there is only one way other than committing crime to access the luxuries of life and become wealthy. We must work for ourselves. How many people do you know that is wealthy working for somebody else? So, why do the government control our existence and how do they do this? There are times and situations when an employer must pay higher wages to compete for scarce labour or skilled staff, but this doesn't happen for long because the Western Democratic System is set up in such a way that there is almost always a 'pool' of unemployed workers eager to do 'unskilled' work for the minimum wage allowable by law. The minimum wage is set as a political tool to generate support for a populist government while still only guaranteeing an unskilled worker barely enough pay to survive.
After WW2 the UK government shipped in workers from Jamaica and elsewhere because of the blitz bombing causing more work than wages and that meant that wages were otherwise going to rise out of their control!! The only capital that working people have, is tied up in 'their' (only 'yours' when you pay the last mortgage payment) houses. The mortgage is the largest payment any family have to make and a commitment of 25 years. This 'millstone' is a ploy to control the worker. You will pay four times the actual price of the property before it is legally yours. House ownership has been encouraged to 'enable' people to have 'security'. This is tripe. The only 'security' is the kind banks and loan companies enjoy when you have borrowed the money at a vast profit to them that gives them the right at anytime to take your home away if you can no longer afford the exorbitant payments.
The 'actual' astronomical value of a person's house is of no positive use to them because if they sell it they still have to buy a new place to live or pay rent calculated on the price of a similar property! House prices are maintained at this scandalous levels where young people or 'first time buyers' are unable afford them. This means the building of new homes is restricted. This makes dwellings scarce to keep them expensive. It costs little more to build a house than it did 25 years ago but look how prices have risen.
About only 4% of land in this country is developed or built upon and we are told the reason is to protect the 'greenbelt'. There is 22% of land set aside as 'unused' farmland and that is subsidised by the EC!! I think the banks are more interested in profits than providing value homes to first time buyers at an affordable price, don't you?
Prior to the 1700's the ordinary people of England used to be able to survive with a few chickens on a tiny strip of land. About the size of six football pitches. They would also subsidise their own resources by working for the Landowner and harvest time which was a real 'earner.' The Feudal system allowed everybody 'equal pay and opportunity' and they could even survive through the toughest winter on their little 'allotment' without relying on work at all if they had a mind to.
This independent decision-making situation put the common people in strong bargaining position with regard to wages. Until cheap grain exports came from the brand new USA! The grain prices fell and the workers refused to work for low pay as farming profits slumped. The landowners found that had to put pressure on the government to change the law and do away with the feudal system of 'tied' workers on their land.
The 'Enclosure acts' was ushered in. This new ruling applied to all the major squires and landlords. This law handed all the land over to them and they could now oppress their workers and throw them off their property if they wanted to. In addition, the 'Anti-combination laws' soon were enforced to stop trade unions or any strike action that forbade people from supporting themselves as before or being disruptive or refusing to work for a pittance.
Another result of these punitive laws was to ship criminals to Australia to be used on colonial farms as slaves. The typical offence for a 'criminal' was stealing a rabbit or stealing a crust of bread for their family in this country as the government depressed the standard of living to abject poverty two hundred years ago. However, the higher classes enjoyed a grandiose lifestyle and servants. People do not realise that the convicts sent to Oz were not 'set free' they had to work sentences under hard labour and strict imprisonment. It was not justice it was slavery.
What does this mean to us?
Governments have not changed. They have a smokescreen of 'political correctness' but they do not care about the people. They still rule and oppress under a veil of 'spin'.
I believe the only reason we do not have our arses in chains as slaves now is because of mechanisation into the nuclear age. We have swapped leg irons for mortgages. It costs money to buy a slave and to feed him but by charging four times the value of his home over the most 'productive' years of his working life he is not completely worthless. Better still put women in competition with men for scarce jobs and watch the fun. Lets call it emancipation and equal rights for the sexes! More stress more divorce and you get the houses back eventually anyway, to dupe more slaves to buy it over again.
Never forget an hourly paid worker is only good as his health and can be dismissed and left to starve for another healthier slave. With no loss of investment by the Master.
This means we are still controlled and oppressed by hidden regimes dressed up as democracy, equal opportunities and civil liberties. We will always be slaves unless we work for ourselves. Still, as everybody knows who have been self-employed the government are making it harder to stay in business. Huge Taxation and tougher laws on operation. Health and safety requirements. Penalties and clauses. Huge insurance premiums. Interest on borrowing. Lack of subsidies for businesses that really need it. Not to mention the poor investment and poor revenues for training support for staff. All the time allowing hordes of workers from overseas to set up business as competition. Cutting imports. Closing down one in three businesses!
I predict that in our lifetime the governments will fall to another machine. The media. Now more powerful than the government. The media is the new God of this system of things. It will manipulate large corporations and be paid even more vast sums to smash governments. All it will take is another Oliver Cromwell to spark thing s off. It's happened before with King Charlie and that can mean only one thing. Capitalism and then Revolution. Revolution will bring Fascism or a leading party run by Imperialists and we will all end up with a dictatorship promising wealth and success to all men that oppress the weaker in our society. Enoch was right. God save S-club seven, Buy me a brass deerstalker.
Sound familiar? What goes around comes around!
Wibble! Wibble!
