What is fiction?
Fiction is the term used to describe works of the imagination; a literary work based on the imagination and not necessarily on fact; imaginative narrative in any form of presentation designed to entertain. Writing that comes from the imagination, or writing that does not adhere to the facts related to true events.

Much of the fascination of collecting in this area lies in trying to anticipate fashion. The author's popularity as a writer, coupled with the rarity of the book concerned, underpin the level of prices paid for any given title. Usually an author's first appearance in print, be it a first novel, or even some rather dull poetry, is of particular value. If that author then went on to establish a significant reputation, these titles can be the most expensive to buy, depending on condition.
